What is Robotic Process Automation (RPA)?
Robotic Process Automation is the technical approach to automate repetitive tasks previously performed by the employees. RPA releases human resources from monotonous, boring work and allows utilizing them more productively. In case of an offshore-based FTE in a Shared Service Center, these costs can be simply reduced.
RPA frameworks nowadays are using advanced Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning mechanisms that utilize historical data and realtime human actions to train algorithms and perform more complex work on unstructured data like images, documents, PDFs.
Why RPA?
RPA works at the GUI level of already existing systems and enterprise software like CRM, ERP, email clients etc., so there is no need to engage IT department or invest in more complex and more time-consuming solutions like SOA that additionally require whole organization to undergo the process of often-painful transition.
Typical project lasts for 6-9 months, which is a significant acceleration compared to projects requiring reconstruction of the organization’s systems and applications.
The average cost of a robot is estimated to be one third of the cost per person (FTE). In addition to this, there is an increase in productivity due to uninterrupted 24x7x365 working days, and a significant increase in performance through continuous learning and optimization, which increase the total savings. RPA can save 50-80% current costs of a process (a robot can be equivalent between 2 and 5 FTE).
Robotic process automation allows you to eliminate the human margin of error, which in the case of repetitive tasks is set between 5% and 10%.
In order to automatize processes they should be well defined and optimized beforehand, which is the part of our job when working on the project.
Process automation results in a competence increase among employees moving them to tasks that are more creative.
RPA robots can be deployed on desktop workstation or using the organization’s cloud architecture.
