SharePoint Column Protector

By default SharePoint  allows you to manage permissions per list element. SharePoint Column Protector goes further and allows you to protect your data per column basis. Permissions for columns are defined for each content type for any SharePoint list or document library. Permissions are effective for item forms and list views, as well as for the SharePoint alerts, attachments, Excel- and Access-exported data, and even for SharePoint Web Service! In other words, SharePoint Column Protector fully secures and gives you a greater degree of control over your list-stored data.

Product functions:

  • Definition of “read-only” and “edit” permissions for selected columns on SharePoint lists and libraries;
  • Option to hide whole SharePoint list columns;

Product Features:

Easy and Convenient Administration Panel
Permissions are defined through lucid forms. Once set, the permissions are effective both on existing and newly created list views.

      Hiding Columns in List View
      SharePoint Column Protector lets you hide entire list columns, along with their headers. Unauthorized users not only will not be able to see data stored in a hidden column, but they won’t even know that the column exists.

      Hiding Fields in List Forms and Alerts
      List form and alerts are, along with list views, the main areas where users can access data stored in SharePoint lists. SCP allows users to access only the data they are permitted to see and edit only the data they are permitted to modify. Specific fields can be either hidden or set in read only mode.

      Protecting Data from Unauthorized Export to Microsoft Access/Microsoft Excel

      Hiding a list column does not ensure data security. Standard SharePoint mechanisms allow exporting data to external applications. Thanks to SharePoint Column Protector there is no need to disable this feature, for users can only export the data they are allowed to see. Additionally in Microsoft Access, which allows data editing, read only mode is retained depending on SCP permissions.
